Changelog
What's new in FlightDesk. All the updates, improvements, and fixes.
v1.3.0
Releases, requesters, and one place to look
- AddedReleases record what actually shipped together. A continuous project treats every merge as its own release, so it gets a changelog for free; a staged project collects merged work into a release that someone stages and then ships. The changelog is one line per task, written from its release note.
- AddedA task can have a target release (the plan) separate from the release it shipped in (the fact), so a release stays accurate when work slips. "Move unfinished" retargets whatever did not make it.
- AddedRequesters: the person who asked for a piece of work is recorded on it, as a contact rather than an account, and the same person asking twice is matched to one contact by Slack id or email.
- AddedWork filed from outside — a Slack request, a synced board — lands in Backlog flagged as a new request for the project's triager, who decides whether it becomes work. Nothing is picked up silently, and an agent cannot clear the flag.
- AddedA client status report: a plain-language status for a slice of an organization's work (New, In progress, Needs feedback, Live), for a staff status page. It deliberately carries nothing internal — no flags, no question text, no assignee names, no requester emails.
- ChangedTask flags are one row per kind and ordered by severity, so a task shows the worst thing open rather than the most recent. A harmless "quiet for four hours" can no longer hide a hung turn or a failed rebase.
- ChangedThe Needs attention board and the task page now read from one attention model, so what they say about a task agrees. Finished work asks nothing of anyone and drops off the board.
- Addedflightdesk --version now prints the commit the build came from, not just the version number, so two builds of one version can be told apart. CLI source changes require a version bump in CI.
- AddedA pull request that adds database migrations is flagged on the task. Previews share one database and FlightDesk deliberately never applies a branch's migrations to it, so the preview runs new code against the old schema — which is worth knowing before you conclude the feature is broken. The warning lists the migration files and says how to handle them.
v1.2.0
One pipeline, and the work that waits on people
- AddedEvery project now runs the same pipeline: Backlog, Ready, Plan, Plan review, Build, Waiting, QA, Merge, Release, Done. A project varies only in where a person is needed — whether the plan is reviewed, whether the pull request is reviewed, how releases close, and whether a plan is required at all.
- RemovedThe per-organization workflow and status editor is gone, along with the generic board every new project used to be seeded with. Copies of a pipeline drift; one pipeline does not. Projects FlightDesk does not drive keep working exactly as before — their phase follows the pull request.
- AddedTurn orchestration on and FlightDesk dispatches the agent at each step and owns the phase. Leave it off and you drive the work yourself while FlightDesk watches the pull request. Both are supported, per project.
- AddedQuestion routing: a product owner for plan review, a technical owner for QA and release, a triager for incoming requests, and a client contact for questions that go outside the team. FlightDesk asks the task's own people first and falls back to these.
- AddedHand off a pull request you built locally with flightdesk task handoff --pr <number>, and the pipeline takes it from there: CI, then QA. A CI failure or an unresolved review thread on work with no live session comes back as a fix turn on the same branch.
- AddedApproved work whose base branch moved is rebased automatically. A clean rebase leaves the QA approval standing; one that had to resolve conflicts tells whoever approved it, or sends the work back to QA if the project asks for that.
- AddedNative Claude permission prompts are handled by the agent by default — it approves what the task needs and escalates anything destructive, secret-reading or out of scope to the technical owner, recording every decision on the timeline. Projects that want a person on every prompt can say so. A prompt FlightDesk cannot classify is never guessed at: it holds the task and asks.
- Added"Work waiting on you" emails: one email when a plan review, QA or release is routed to you, or a question or permission request is assigned to you. At most one an hour for the same thing, so a busy task does not fill your inbox.
- AddedInitiatives: a named body of work that can span a project's subprojects, with an owner, a status you set, and dates. A task can belong to several.
- AddedBlocked by: a task can be blocked by others, and the pipeline respects it — a blocked task's next turn is held until its last blocker is done, then sent automatically.
- ChangedPreviews stop after 60 minutes with no real traffic and wake when someone visits, usually without a rebuild. A stopped preview is free, and running out of credit never stops one.
- ChangedPreview compute is billed per organization from a dated rate schedule: $0.10 per running hour from October 1, 2026, with stopped time free. Every subscription still includes $5 of monthly credit.
- AddedPreviews are isolated from production: a preview runs no scheduled jobs, makes no outbound writes, sends no real email, and refuses to boot against a database on the forbidden-host list.
- FixedQA can approve without ticking every test-plan step, and no longer has to give a reason to do so. A reason is only required to request changes.
v1.1.0
Seeing what an agent is doing
- AddedAgent turns report their progress as they go, with their budget and their saved output, so a long turn is legible while it is still running rather than only once it ends.
- AddedDaily and weekly organization digests, built from what FlightDesk already records, with a per-recipient opt-in and a reporting time zone so everyone's digest covers the same day.
- AddedAttach a session, a branch or a pull request to a task from the task page, for work that started outside FlightDesk.
- ChangedThe pull request body is the task summary, mirrored whenever the pull request opens, reopens or is edited. Edit the pull request; the task follows.
